The Ukrainian world champion will meet with the British on August 20
Eddie Hearnpromoter of former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs), commented on the official announcement of his client’s second fight with the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs).
“We are thrilled to have one of the biggest heavyweight rematches in boxing history and to give Anthony Joshua the chance to reclaim what he lost in London last September. Everything is at stake in this fight for the world heavyweight title. We know Oleksandr Usyk is a great fighter and we saw that last time, but I know Anthony Joshua is more determined than ever,” Hearn said.
“It was a huge success to host the Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr rematch in Saudi Arabia in 2019 and we look forward to working with the country again to put together this historic event. So without a doubt, all the eyes of the world will be on the ring on Saturday, August 20th. This is a story of redemption and the countdown starts now.”
Usyk’s second fight with Joshua will take place on August 20 in Saudi Jeddah. The rematch will be streamed live on the DAZN streaming platform and will be broadcast on PPV (pay-per-view).
Last fall, Usyk defeated Joshua by unanimous decision and won the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight championship belts.
