Mikhail Ilyashev, head of the Ukrainian Fencing Federation, announced that Ukrainian fencers will not participate in the World Championship disciplines in Milan, where Russian and Belarusian athletes will be represented. Russian and Belarusian athletes will participate in the competition as individual neutral athletes.
Ukrainian athletes will only participate in team competitions, in which Russian and Belarusian fencers will not participate. They will also be represented in men’s saber and foil competitions, where there are no Russian and Belarusian participants.
The world championship will take place from July 22 to 30.
