De Gea announces his departure from Manchester United

The Spaniard spent 12 seasons with the Premier League club

Goalkeeper David De Gea announced his departure from Manchester United. The 32-year-old Spaniard said goodbye to the club and fans on Twitter.

“I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for your love over the past 12 years. We have achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club. I felt incredibly proud every time I wore this t-shirt. It has been an unforgettable and successful period since I came here.”

“Now it’s time to take on a new challenge, to test yourself again in new conditions. Manchester will always be in my heart.”

De Gea has been playing for Manchester United since 2011. On account of the Spaniard 545 matches for the Red Devils, 190 matches the goalkeeper played “to zero”.

Together with Manchester United, De Gea won the Premier League, the Europa League, the FA Cup. The Spaniard won the English League Cup twice and won the FA Super Cup three times.

As a replacement for De Gea, Manchester United are set to sign Inter goalkeeper Andre Onan. If the Cameroonian leaves, the Nerazzurri may sign Shakhtar’s goalkeeper Anatoly Trubin.

Manchester United finished the season in the Premier League in third place. The Red Devils also won the English League Cup.
