Gabrielyan on the restoration of Lasitskene: “There was no operation, there is a positive trend”

Olympic high jump champion Maria Lasitskene is recovering with positive momentum from an Achilles injury, but it’s too early to talk about starting plans, the athlete’s coach Gennady Gabrielan told .

During the Russian team championship in Sochi on May 25, Lasitskene announced that she was going to undergo a medical examination regarding Achilles which was bothering her. After that, she missed the week of athletics, which was held in Moscow in June.

– Gennady Garikovich, how is Maria’s rehabilitation process going? Did you have to have surgery? And will it be possible to recover by the Asian Games if they decide to participate?

– There was no operation. Rehabilitation goes hand in hand with a positive dynamic. But, since after such injuries there is always a long recovery, now it is very difficult to predict the timing of recovery and full preparation for the competition, Gabrielyan told .
