Tete: I love Ukraine, but because of this situation I won’t be able to play for Shakhtar anymore

The Brazilian’s contract with the Pitmen is valid until the end of 2023

Winger Miner Tete said that he would not play for the Donetsk team. The Brazilian has received several offers from other clubs, but has yet to decide where he will continue his career.

“Yes, there is still a little time left before the completion of the contract with Shakhtar. Because of this situation, I will no longer be able to play for Shakhtar. But I support the team and really want it to develop. It was the first professional team I played for,” Tete said.

“We have not yet decided on the future club. We are studying very carefully, but we are not in a hurry to make a decision yet. There are many interested teams, but now my agent decides everything. I love Ukraine. Now I’m on vacation and, despite the war, I came here. We believe in victory and that everything will be fine.”

Tete’s contract with Shakhtar expires in December 2023. Celtic are interested in the services of the Brazilian.

Last season, Tete played for two clubs on loan. The Brazilian spent the first part of the campaign as part of Lyon (19 matches, 6 goals and 5 assists). In January, the midfielder moved to Leicester, where he played 14 games, scoring one goal.

Shakhtar became the champion of Ukraine and will play in the group stage of the Champions League. In the first round of the new UPL season, the Pitmen will face Metalist 1925. The base date is 29 July.
