Kolyada spoke about his decision on Maxim Trankov’s “Free Program” podcast.
The 28-year-old skater is an Olympic silver medalist in team competitions, a bronze medalist at the World Championships and a double bronze medalist at the European Championships.
Moreover, Kolyada became a three-time Russian champion and won the World Tag Team Championship in 2021.
At the moment, Russian skaters are suspended from international departures.
