Karavaev: It’s very nice that the guys support me and I’m glad that I stayed at Dynamo

31-year-old player extended cooperation with the Kyiv club

Defender Dynamo Alexander Karavaev commented on the extension of the contract with the Kyiv club. The player noted that his decision to stay in the team was supported by both teammates and the coaching staff.

“I’m very pleased. For the last two months I have been talking with my family about this, we weighed all the pros and cons, thought about how best to do it. I expressed my opinion, the wife – hers. They settled on me staying. I remember when four years ago I signed my first contract with Dynamo, you also asked me for impressions and goals – they remained unchanged: then I said that I wanted to win trophies with Dynamo, it worked out, I remember all the feelings and emotions about victories , and now I strive to do it further to feel the same again by winning the championship. With such thoughts, goals and motivation, I decided to sign a new contract, continue cooperation with Dynamo and fight for the highest places,” said Karavaev.

“At the end of last season, Nikolai Shaparenko came up to me and asked what I was planning, then I replied that nothing had been decided yet, but immediately made it clear that he would support any of my decisions and would be glad if I stayed. The same was said by Alexander Andrievsky. Then he called Sergei Sidorchuk on the phone, asked for his opinion and asked for advice. And later Andrey Yarmolenko also called by phone – it was very nice that the guys support me, they want us to be together, and we are glad that I stayed, of course, this is encouraging, as is the support and trust from the coaching staff. This is also a very significant guarantee for a good result.”

Karavaev signed a new two-year contract with Dynamo. The defender has been playing for the White-Blues since 2019.

Last season, Karavaev played in 30 matches for Dynamo in all competitions, scoring two goals and three assists. In total, the Ukrainian has 130 fights for the Kyiv team.

Dynamo is currently at a training camp in Austria. In the first round of the new Ukrainian Premier League, Mircea Lucescu’s team will play against Minai.
