South Korean NOC to ask IOC to review Sotnikova’s doping case with Sochi Olympics

The Korean Sports and Olympic Committee (KSOC) intends to appeal to the International Olympic Committee (IOC ) calling for a new investigation into doping allegations against the Olympic figure skating champion Adelina Sotnikova .

Sotnikova earlier in an interview with YouTube channel Tatarka FM told about a positive doping test in 2014, and also noted that her “B” test then came back negative. Sotnikova at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi won gold in the singles tournament, ahead of Korean Kim Yong-A.

— The Korean Anti-Doping Agency collects relevant data and information. After collecting the necessary information, we will ask the IOC to look into the Sotnikova case. She herself said she tested positive on her A sample, but negative on her B sample. This is an extremely rare case requiring further investigation. Testing technology has improved over the years, we believe they will be able to find what they could not find in the past, – quotes the representative of the Republic of Korea Olympic Committee yonhap .

Earlier, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) press service told that the agency has no information about the situation with Sotnikova’s positive doping test.
