Valiyeva included in new ISU doping test pool for 2023/24 season

Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva included in the new pool of doping tests of the International Skating Union (ISU), reports the press service of the organization.

In addition to Valieva, new ISU test groups included Evgeny Semenenko, Adelia Petrosyan, Petr Gumennik and Sofya Akatieva (single skating), Alexandra Boikova and Dmitry Kozlovsky, Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov (pair skating),

Also, there are skaters Pavel Kulizhnikov, Ruslan Zakharov, Sergey Trofimov, Ruslan Murashov, Irina Kuznetsova, Evgenia Lalenkova, Elizaveta Golubeva and Angelina Golikova in the pool.

Among the Russian short trackers, Ekaterina Konstantinova, Konstantin Ivliev and Semyon Elistratov are represented in the pool.

Valieva at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing helped the Russian team win gold in the team competition. Before the personal tournament, it became known that the illegal drug trimetazidine was discovered during the doping test of the Russian championship figure skater. The CAS allowed the Russian woman to participate in the individual competitions of the Games, where she took fourth place.

In January, DAK RUSADA determined that although the athlete committed an anti-doping rule violation, she bears “no fault or negligence.” This decision was appealed by WADA, ISU and RUSADA. So far, Valieva has escaped punishment other than having her results voided as of the date of the draw, December 25, 2021. WADA requires a 17-year-old athlete to be disqualified for four years.
