Athletistic/Figure Skating. Olympic ice dance champion Natalia Bestemyanova has commented on the South Korean NOC’s attempt to appeal to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to ask it to investigate the doping history of Russian figure skater Adelina Sotnikova.

Bestemyanova said she did not understand why Sotnikova said that and there was no positive test. If she had tested positive, she would have been stripped of her medal. Natalia also added that none of the coaches and the federation knew anything about this matter. Bestemyanova thinks it may have been uttered by Sotnikova due to lack of attention.

On the program “Frankly with the Tatar”, Sotnikova admitted that in 2014 she took a positive doping test, but she was acquitted in a doping case after opening the “B” sample, which s turned out clean. Later, a fragment of the video with the recognition of the figure skater passing a positive doping test disappeared from the Tatarka FM YouTube channel.
