Ukrainian women’s wrestling team boycotts major tournament due to Russian participation

According to information published on the website ua.tribuna.com, the Ukrainian women’s wrestling team has decided to boycott a major ranking tournament in Budapest due to the participation of Russian athletes. This was stated by the President of the Ukrainian Wrestling Association Yuriy Kopytko.

Previously, Ukrainian athletes were preparing to participate in the tournament, but it was not known about the possible participation of Russian representatives. At the same time, the Ukrainian men’s team will participate in the tournament, since Russian and Belarusian athletes were not allowed to participate.

Previously, Ukraine had already boycotted the European Cadet Wrestling Championship due to the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes. The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine is not going to give up the idea of ​​boycotting the competitions, in which Russian and Belarusian participants will participate.

The Budapest tournament is scheduled for the period from July 13 to 16.
