President of the Russian Diving Federation Stanislav Druzhinin considers that it would be logical to consider the question of the admission of Russian athletes to international departures at the World Swimming Congress.
The Congress will take place on July 25 in Fukuoka, Japan. On July 14, a meeting of the bureau of World Aquatics was held, but the conclusions of the commission on the possible return of Russians to competitions under the auspices of the international federation were not presented there. The Ukrainian side called for the abolition of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (VFTU), but World Aquatics rejected this proposal.
– Since the findings of the commission have not even been heard, it would make sense for this matter to be considered by the congress, where all World Aquatics members would make an informed decision on this matter.
Of course, it is unpleasant that they again try to promote anti-Russian decisions and that Ukraine tries to sting and pinch us, but it does not scare us at all,” Druzhinin told Match. TV.
