Bronze medalist at the World High Jump Championships Ilya Ivanyuk commenting on the second place in the Russian Cup, said he wanted to minimize the risk of injury.
On Friday, Ivanyuk finished second in the Russian Cup to Zhukovsky with a score of 2.23 meters. The first place was taken by Danil Lysenko, who repeated the best result of the season in the world (2.33). Third place goes to Nikita Anishchenkov (2.23).
– I visited Zhukovsky for the first time as an athlete in 2014. And almost never during the whole stay here there was no good weather. Today, it’s cloudy, cold and it was very demotivating. I would like to minimize the risk of injury, because we have in front of us the big starts: the Russian Championship and the final of the Queen series of Russian sports. I will also participate in the Belarus Open Championship.
By the way, today we were lucky with the weather more or less. Cold, windy, but no rain. But for tomorrow we wish the girls good luck, they will have a really athletic time.
If we talk about jumps, I tried to cheer myself up, try to change something, but I was sorely unable to get up – I was thrown towards the bar all the time, I couldn’t stand my speed. In this regard, nothing worked at all. However, I didn’t really expect it to be possible to perform well here, given the not very favorable weather conditions. Let’s see what will happen in the next competitions.
My form is in form. I will work on the technical aspects now, because there was a big break – my last competitions in Cheboksary were on June 17th. I lost something, so now I will catch up and show good high jumps, ” correspondent reports in the words of Ivanyuk.
The Russian Cup will end on Saturday. Watch the live broadcast on the channel from 9.55am.
