Ice dancing world champion, Russian choreographer and producer Ilya Averbukh commented on the decision of the Olympic ice dance champions Gabriela Papadakis and Guillaume Sizeron skip the 2022/23 season.
– They have reached their peak: they have won all possible tournaments. Papadakis and Sizeron are among the most successful athletes in ice dancing. Five-time world champions, Olympic champions… I think they’ve lost their moral motivation. Such a pause is quite understandable. They will try themselves in a different role, – quotes the words of Averbukh “Championship”.
Papadakis and Sizeron are 2022 Olympic champions, 2018 Olympic silver medalists, five-time world champions, five-time European champions, two-time Grand Prix Final winners, seven-time French champions.
