Down-the-line.com / Cycling. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has decided to ban the participation of transgender athletes in women’s competitions. According to the UCI statement, transgender female athletes who transition after male puberty will be banned from competing in women’s competitions in all categories and disciplines on the UCI international calendar.

Instead, an open category will be created in the Masters category, merged with the men’s category.

Recall that the question of the admission of transgender people to competitions has been actively debated for a long time. Increasingly, former men who have changed their gender participate in women’s competitions and, as a rule, win. This situation worries the organizers and the athletes.
