International Football Federation (Fifa ) and the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) have indicated that they will review the rules for admitting transgender people to tournaments after the International Swimming Federation (FINA) decision on the participation of this category in the competition .
The FINA Congress in Budapest has decided that transgender people who have transitioned after reaching the age of 12 will not be able to participate in women’s competitions under the auspices of this organization. Additionally, FINA President Hussein Al-Musallam announced the creation of a working group to create an open category for transgender people.
FIFA is currently revising its gender compliance rules in consultation with stakeholders. Due to the ongoing nature of the process, FIFA cannot comment on specific changes to existing rules.
