Ukrainians fulfilled the Olympic standard
Ukrainian high jumper Irina Gerashchenko became the winner of the eighth stage Diamond League in Polish Chorzow.
Gerashchenko took first place with a score of 1.98m, ahead of Australian Nikola Olislagers and her compatriot Julia Levchenko due to fewer attempts.
In addition to medals, Gerashchenko and Levchenko also received licenses to Olympic Games 2024 in Paris. Ukrainian women completed the Olympic standard – 1.97 m.
This is Gerashchenko’s first victory at the Diamond League stage in 2023. Earlier, Irina won silver in Rabat and Lausanne.
Another Ukrainian Kateryna Tabashnik (1.89 m) took eighth place in Chorzow. Yaroslava Maguchy missed the competition in Poland due to the cancellation of the flight that the athlete was supposed to fly.
