Finnish former skier Ari Luusua suspended for four years for using banned substances, according to the website of the Finnish Center for Sports Ethics (SUEK).
In the athlete’s doping test dated July 20, 2021, a metabolite of drostanolone and meldonium was found.
In early March, the Anti-Doping Disciplinary Commission issued a decision to suspend Luusua until the end of August 2025, after which the athlete appealed against this verdict. Finn justified the call by the fact that at the time of the tests, he had retired.
However, according to media reports, Luusua at the time had a two-year contract with a member club of the Swedish Ski Association. The Court of Appeal ruled that the Finn was subject to the International Ski Federation’s anti-doping code, so Luusua’s appeal was dismissed.
Luusua’s best World Cup result was finishing ninth in the Finnish hand in 2016.
