Kulichenko decided to change his nationality with the help of his father’s company. According to the law, she and her family could obtain Cypriot citizenship by investing at least 2.2 million euros in the country’s economy.

“I faced a huge amount of hate because of it. People probably can’t even imagine how much hate surrounded me when my change of nationality was known,” Kulichenko explained in an interview. with Svenskayle.

Two years ago she started to participate in national competitions in Cyprus and this summer she represented the country in international competitions. At the European U23 Championships, which took place in Espoo (Finland), Kulichenko won the high jump with a result of 1.91 m, a historic victory for Cyprus, the first medal of the continental youth championship in athletics.
