Double Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Vlad Chigireva believes that the program on music from the series “Magnificent Century”, staged for the Italian national team, was successful in terms of vivid images, and the coaches did an excellent quality job.
With this program, choreographed by Chigireva, three-time Olympic champion Alexandra Patskevich and seven-time Olympic champion Svetlana Romashina, Italian synchronized swimmers won bronze at the World Championships in Budapest.
– The music was originally researched by Sveta and Sasha. Sasha came across music from the Turkish series “The Magnificent Century”. And I can say that today in this production the image immediately guessed. When they showed this music to the Italian team, they were happy with such a find. When they left, they then threw out some of their swimsuit ideas, options for what can be done on land. The Italian national team coaches did a great job with the girls, because the program looked clean, synchronous, high,” Chigireva told .
– Have you watched the series “The Magnificent Century”?
– Now maybe you should look (laughing). So far, I’ve only seen a lot of snippets on TikTok.
— How was the program organised?
– They were supporting each other with Sasha, picked up at the time of production – they could take half a group, put some moves to music, watch and take the best. Then Sveta Romashina came in, made her own comments, and we finalized it. We sincerely believe that it is our common merit.
We were very worried that the program would be completely different, but in the end it was shown almost in the same version. Compared to the semi-final, I think the girls corrected mistakes, lack of height, synchronization, layout, and above all lift.
The commentators announced us today as directors, so that a piece of Russia, the Russian soul and style would be present in the productions, the programs, even if we were not at the World Cup. We are happy that our program took third place, I sit down and smile. Now I understand that it was always clear on the faces of our coaches whether they were happy with our performance or not. Because if you are satisfied, that smile cannot be taken off your face,” Chigireva noted.
