WBC confirms Stevenson as mandatory challenger for Haney’s belt

Devin has until July 21 to decide who he will fight – with Shakur at lightweight, or Regis Prograis at light welterweight

World Boxing Council (WBC) officially confirmed Shakur Stevenson as a mandatory contender for the lightweight belt held by the undisputed champion Devin Haney.

WBC President Mauricio Suleiman says Devin must decide on his future opponent until July 21. Haney is choosing between defending his lightweight belt and fighting for the light welterweight title he owns. Regis Prograis.

Haney defeated Vasily Lomachenko for the title of undisputed world lightweight champion. The sports community spoke about the unfair decision of the panel of judges. Lomachenko said he intends to seek revenge.

Stevenson defeated Japan’s Shuichiro Yoshino in his lightweight debut. Prograis defeated Puerto Rican Danielito Zorrilla via split decision.
