Nigerian world record holder in the 100m hurdles Toby Amusan said she was charged with violating anti-doping rules.
The 26-year-old said she was charged with missing three doping tests in 12 months, which could result in a two-year suspension.
“I intend to fight this accusation. My case will be heard by a tribunal of three referees before the start of the World Cup next month. I am a clean athlete, regularly (maybe even more often than usual) tested by the Independent Athletics Body (IAU) – I was tested a few days after my third “failed test”. I believe everything will be resolved in my favor and I will play at the World Championships in August,” Amusan wrote on the social network.
Amusan set the world record for the 100m hurdles at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, USA, covering the distance in 12.12 seconds. At the Tokyo Olympics, the Nigerian came fourth.
The 2023 world championship will take place in Budapest from August 19 to 27.
