Coach and technical specialist Sergei Roslyakov believes that the figure skater Alena Kostornaya has sufficient coordination for successful performance in his sport, and also noted that the athlete is a fan of his work.
In early 2023, Kostornaya announced the transition from solo to pair skating and began performing with Georgy Kunitsa. The 19-year-old is the European champion (2020) and the winner of the Grand Prix final of the 2019/2020 season in individual skating.
– Before starting to work together, I can honestly tell you that I have never met such a coordinated athlete at work. She learns new elements, moves so quickly that at first I was a bit shocked how this was possible. It’s a very cool quality.
As for motivating athletes, that’s part of my job, and not just in relation to Alena, but absolutely everyone. It always seems to mentors that rooms are a bit underperforming. It’s normal to be a little unhappy all the time. This is what we are paid for. Fortunately, we have a very cool competition in our group, in which everyone is fighting in one way or another for my attention as a coach. It’s energizing. And this leads to the fact that people themselves want to work more. Alena is no exception in this regard. You know, she is an unconditional fan of figure skating and strives to take every opportunity to train on the ice and participate in competitions, ”quotes RT Roslyakov.
