Earlier, the athlete posted a message on a social network, where she said that all her military ranks received during her performances for CSKA were nominal and would not prevent her from resuming her activities in the Athletes’ Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in September.
Ishmuratova expressed her opinion on this situation: “Such statements remind us of Isinbayeva’s previous statement when we voted for amendments to the constitution, and she said that she opened it for the first time. This brought on a bitter smile. But the current statement, in my opinion, is a hundred times worse. Time always puts everything in its place and helps to identify double standards. It is difficult to understand how a person can receive military ranks and state awards from the hands of the Minister of Defense by being photographed in military uniform and then declare such a thing. It’s just nonsense. I’m really sorry this is happening. Elena held different statuses and participated in various organizations, and everywhere she was received with joy.
Ishmuratova also pointed out that Yelena Isinbayeva has been associated with CSKA for a long time and receives a salary for this. She regretted that such behavior jeopardized the reputation of other athletes dedicated to Russia. She urged to be more attentive to those who represent the country in various organizations, including international ones, and to entrust this responsibility to athletes sincerely devoted to Russia, and not to spin-tails who change their position depending on the circumstances.
