The parties made a joint decision in favor of Ukrainian volleyball
Volleyball Federation of Ukraine (VVU) announced that the conflict between the Federation and the players of the country’s men’s national team has been settled.
In its statement, the HLF announced that the national team will be represented in the first team at the upcoming events. The full text of the statement can be read Here.
“The HLF admits that the main reason for the emergence of dissatisfaction in the national team was organizational shortcomings. Based on the results of the discussion, the Federation decided to develop an action plan aimed at solving technical issues that will ensure the systematic preparation of the national team for international competitions.”
“The first stage of these measures will be the development and implementation of a new management system for the national team. This task will be undertaken by the general sponsor of the national team – the network of shopping centers Epicenter.
“All the players of the national team without exception are patriots of Ukraine. Each of them proudly wears a blue and yellow uniform and represents the country with honor on the international stage. Together we managed to solve all the pressing issues, so that the national team will play the next matches with the main squad and with a high level of motivation.”
Earlier, the captain of the national team, Oleg Plotnitsky, said that there were “differences in basic points” between the team and the leadership of the FVU. For this reason, the upcoming tournaments of the national team could do without the participation of several players.
The result of the rebellion was only one permutation in the composition. The coach of the Ukrainian national team, Ugis Krastiņš, expelled the setter Vitaliy Shchitkov from the team, and instead called Sergey Evstratov, representing Prometheus.
At the end of July, the men’s national team of Ukraine should play in the Candidates’ Cup, the winner of which will receive a ticket to the League of Nations-2024. In the first match, the blue-yellows will meet with China.
In August-September, Ukraine will perform at the European Championship, and in October, the team of Ugis Krastins will play in the qualifying stage for the 2024 Olympics.
In June, the Ukrainian men’s team lost to Turkey in the Euroleague Golden 2023 final in five sets.
