Cyclist Valgonen says she will race in France after going neutral

Russian cyclist Valeria Valgonen told that after receiving neutral status she intended to start the multi-day race in France.

Valgonen was granted neutral status by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) this week. On Thursday, she, as part of the St. Petersburg team, won the team race in the Russian Championship.

– We set a record for Russia, so we are happy with the seconds, but unhappy with second place – the best result for the Belarusian team. We could have gone faster.

– How is the Belarusian national team stronger now?

– In the program they are older, they are more wound up – we only did two training sessions with this team. We would like to train together for a month.

— Do you like team racing?

– She’s my favorite. We have started to improve the result, we are getting closer to the seconds shown by girls from other teams.

– Where will you update the neutral status?

“I will go for my road team to France,” Valgonen told .
