Four countries have lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the results of last month’s International Ski Federation (FIS) presidential election, which re-elected Swede Johan Eliash. This was reported by Inside the Game.
The list of applicants to the court is made up of Austria, Germany, Croatia and Switzerland. According to the source, they have notified the FIS that they contest the vote held at the organization’s congress in Milan.
“Elections in which delegates had only one option – to vote for – do not correspond to our understanding of the law and are a complete farce,” said Stefan Schwarzbach of the German Ski Federation.
Eliash was the only candidate for the position.
The 60-year-old Swede took over the FIS in June 2021, replacing Gianfranco Kasper, who had led the organization since 1998, as the Swiss representative.
