The arbitration court of the Volgograd region has accepted a lawsuit from the government of the capital of the region against a two-time Olympic champion Elena Isinbayeva and three other defendants demanding to recover 124,000 rubles, follows from the file on the official website of the court.
The request of the municipal property department of the Volgograd administration was filed on July 10, four defendants appear in the case, including Isinbayeva.
On July 17, Isinbayeva announced that she would return to work at the IOC in September, and also noted that she had never been in the Russian armed forces, calling her major rank “nominal”. Sports Minister of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin called Isinbayeva’s attitude towards her own military rank unacceptable. The Minister also noted that Elena does not represent Russia in the IOC, but rather the IOC in Russia.
Isinbayeva is a two-time Olympic pole vault champion (she won gold at the Games in 2004 and 2008), bronze medalist at the 2012 Olympics, multiple world champion and holder of 28 world records.
