Athlete Faith Kipyegon broke the world record for running one mile, according to the International Association of Athletics Federations (since 2019 – World Athletics).
During the Diamond League stop in Monaco, a 29-year-old Kenyan ran a mile in 4 minutes 7.64 seconds. The previous record (4:12.33) in 2019 was set by Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands.
This is the third world record for Kipyegon in the past two months. In June, the athlete ran 1500 meters in 3 minutes 49.11 seconds. Later, the athlete set a new record at a distance of 5000 meters – 14:05.20.
Kipyegon is a double Olympic champion and double world champion in the 1500 meters.
