Rylov on changing sports citizenship: “There’s no point in condemning for this, life will show who was right”

Double Olympic swimming champion Yevgeny Rylov told that he does not condemn his colleagues for changing their sporting citizenship, but he himself is not ready to go.

Rylov starts in the Russian Cup final in Kazan (July 25-30).

– What do you think of the fact that a wave of changes in sports citizenship has begun?

– I think this is a purely personal matter for each athlete. Everyone makes their choice and I will not judge for them. Everyone aspires to an Olympic medal and for him it is the meaning of life. There is no point in condemning, life will show who made the right choice.

Isn’t it your choice?

Under these circumstances, certainly not. To leave the country for my personal gain – I’m not ready (for that). At the same time, I can understand the choice of others, the circumstances – people have worked all their lives. You shouldn’t blame them for wanting to compete,” Rylov told .

World Aquatics, at least until the end of the World Championship in Fukuoka (until July 30), does not intend to address the question of the participation of Russians in international competitions, from which they are suspended on the background of the situation in Ukraine.
