Ukrainian defender Evgeny Cheberko debuted for Columbus Crew. The Ukrainian team beat St. Louis in the League Cup – 2:1.
Columbus scored twice in the first half, scored by defender Lucas Selarrayan and forward Cucho, who converted a penalty. St. Louis pulled one back at the very end of the game thanks to an own goal by Jacen Russell-Rowe.
Cheberko came on as a substitute in the middle of the second half. The Ukrainian earned a yellow card at the end of the match.
Recall that Eugene moved to Columbus in June, signing a contract until the summer of 2026. In the previous season, the Ukrainian played for the Croatian Osijek.
Columbus will next face Mexican America in the League Cup on August 1st. Two of the three teams in Group 4 will advance to the Round of 16.
