“Russia maintains European leadership in diving, but the situation with admission to the Olympics is boring” – Druzhinin

President of the Russian Diving Federation Stanislav Druzhinin spoke about the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes.

In March, the IOC executive committee recommended that international federations, if Russians are allowed to start, do so individually, in a neutral status, without participating in team events, and also exclude the participation of athletes associated with law enforcement. Sports Minister of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin said that the Russians will not sign statements condemning the SVO, under these conditions the athletes will not participate in the tournaments.

We don’t lose heart [положительно] configured. The Russian Championship shows that we keep the European leadership in diving, it’s 100%, and we are ready to compete with the most serious countries, including China.

This whole situation is stressing us out, it cannot be ignored. For any athlete, the Olympic Games are the main competitions, we understand that. However, under these conditions, which are not sporting, ideologically and politically contrary to common sense, we cannot and will not participate,” Druzhinin said on ‘s Loud show.

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
