Sergio won the Nations League with Spain
Monterrey announced the signing of the Betis midfielder and the Spanish national team Sergio Canales. The 32-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Mexican club with an option to extend for another season.
According to information journalist Fabrizio Romano, Betis will receive 10 million euros for the transfer of Canales. Another seven million euros are written in the form of bonuses.
Canales has been playing for Betis since 2018. The midfielder also played for Racing, Real Madrid, Valencia and Real Sociedad.
Canales scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists in 42 games for Betis last season. Also on account of the midfielder 11 fights (1 goal) for the Spanish national team, with which he won the League of Nations.
Monterrey is in second place in the Mexican championship after three rounds played. Canales’ next match will be against Real Salt Lake City on July 27 in the League Cup.
