Three-time Olympic synchronized swimming champion Maria Kiseleva told that little has changed in terms of the training of Russian synchronized swimmers, despite the uncertainty over admission to international competitions, and that the athletes are ready to start at any time.
On Tuesday, World Aquatics President Hussein Al-Musallam, speaking at the organization’s congress in Fukuoka, where the World Aquatics Championship is being held without the participation of Russians, said the commission for admission of Russians and Belarusians to the competition will decide on possible admission later this year. Previously, it had been reported that the committee’s findings would be heard in July, but that did not happen at the July 14 bureau meeting.
– Everyone trains actively. We are entering a new season. We are ready at the right time to start and show the maximum of which we are capable. We are developing and moving forward, we are waiting for a decision on admission to the competition. The load is not reduced, the bank is not reduced. Work is in full swing. These departures that are organized today in the country, and those that are planned, of course, are a good help, Kiseleva told .
In March, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international federations, if Russians are allowed to start, do so individually, in a neutral status, without participating in team events, and also exclude the participation of athletes associated with law enforcement.
