American Kathy Ledecky won with a time of 15 minutes 26.27 seconds. Second was Italian Simone Quadarella (+17.04 seconds), bronze went to Chinese Li Bingze (+19.44). Kirpichnikova (+22.26) finished fourth.
Born in Russia, Kirpichnikova changed her sporting nationality to French in June.
Kirpichnikova has been training in France for over four years. She is three times European champion in short course, silver medalist at the World Championships in short course and three times medalist at the European Championships.
