South Korean women’s team forward Casey Fair became the youngest player in the history of women’s and men’s World Cups.
A Korean with American roots came on as a substitute against Colombia (0:2) in the first round match of Group H at the age of 16 years and 26 days. Casey surpassed Nigerian Ifeani Chiejin’s previous record set at the 1999 World Cup.
In the second match of Group H, Germany had previously defeated Morocco (6:0). Korean women in the next match will play with the Moroccan team on July 30.
The 2023 Women’s World Cup is taking place in Australia and New Zealand. The group round matches will run until August 3rd. The final will take place in Sydney on 20 August.
