“Now there is not a single skater like Hanyu and Nathan Chen” – Murashov

Russian figure skater Egor Murashov believes that in men’s figure skating, after the departure of Olympic champions Neitan Chen and Yuzuru Hanyu, there are no brilliant athletes left who would excel at an exorbitant level.

– Time passes, someone leaves, someone comes. Now there is no one, like there was once Yuzuru Hanyu, Nathan Chen, you see on the lists and understand that it will be something beyond. Now, probably, there are five or ten athletes who skate very well, but there is nothing like me running to buy tickets to see them. Look on the Internet – yes, to see who makes which chips.

I can single out Kevin Aimose – for me he is one of the coolest skaters in terms of skating and interesting programs. Her performances are always filled with something alive, there’s some kind of story, she’s backed up with leaps, and it looks very cool. Clearly it’s not Yuzuru Hanyu, who can just do a hat-trick, and that will be great, nothing more. Kevin gets it with some of his dances, tricks, jumps and, of course, the emotions he gives to the people of the program, – said Murashov at the Championship.

American Chen missed the 2022/23 season, deciding to focus on his studies at Yale University. Hanyu in July 2022 announced the end of his amateur career and the transition to professionals.
