Milak wins gold at World Championships in 200m butterfly with world record

Hungarian swimmer Christophe Milak won the 200m butterfly world record at the FINA World Aquatics Championships in Budapest.

Milak swam that distance in the final in 1:50.34. Previously, the record belonged to him – 1: 50.73 (July 24, 2019, Gwangju, South Korea).

Frenchman Léon Marchand finished second in 1:53.37, followed by Japanese Yamoru Honda in 1:53.61.

Team USA’s Bobby Finke (7:39.36) won the 800m freestyle, Germany’s Florian Wellbrock was second in 7:39.63 and Mykhailo Romanchuk of Ukraine was third (7:40.05).

In the women’s 200m freestyle, Chinese Yang Zongsuan won in 1:54.92, silver was won by Australian Molly O’Callaghan in 1:55.22, bronze was won by another representative from China, Tang Muhan (1:56.25).

In the 50m breaststroke, Nick Fink (USA) won – 26.45, the second result was won by Italian Nicolo Martinengi – 26.48, the third – by Michael Andrew (USA) 26.72.

Team USA won the mixed medley relay in 3:38.79, followed by the Australians in 3.41.34 and the Netherlands in 3.41.54. In synchronized swimming that day, the Chinese women won the technical program of the group competition – 94.7202, the Japanese team finished second – 92.2261, the Italian team finished third – 91.0191.
