russian diver Leila Salyamova told that she received a wildcard for the World Series stop, which will be held in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Salyamova had previously won the first quota in the history of Russian women’s diving for the Aquatic World Championship, but the tournament was moved from Japan’s Fukuoka to Budapest and diving was not included in the competition program. Moreover, the Russian side refused to participate in these competitions, and then the International Swimming Federation (FINA) announced that it would not invite Russian athletes to participate under its auspices until the end of the year.
The Cliff Diving World Series is not part of the FINA calendar. Salyamov will be able to perform during these departures in a neutral status. Previously, Russians did not participate in such competitions. In the Men’s World Series, the big winner was Artem Silchenko.
The competition will take place in Mostar on August 27.
