Hungary’s Milak breaks his own world record in the 200m butterfly

At the World Championships in Budapest

Olympic champion Christoph Milak broke his own world record in the 200m butterfly.

The 22-year-old Hungarian set a new record – a minute and 50.34 seconds – at the home world championship in aquatics in Budapest.

The closest pursuer, the Frenchman Leon Marchand, was 3.03 seconds ahead of Milak in yesterday’s final. “Bronze” was won by the Japanese Tomoru Honda.

Milak won Olympic gold in the 200m butterfly last year. Another medal – silver – the Hungarian won in the 100-meter race.

Krysztof became a two-time world champion, having previously won the “gold” of the 2019 world championship in Korean Gwangju at his signature distance.

The World Championship in Budapest will last until July 3. The Ukrainian national team with four awards (and one gold) takes sixth place in the medal standings.
