The basketball player suffered a rupture of the cruciate ligament of the knee in a sparring with Israel. The Basketball Federation of Ukraine will cover the costs of the operation and rehabilitation of the player.
Recall that within the framework of the training camp, Ukraine lost to Lithuania (72:100), beat Sweden (74:72) and Israel (75:69), after which it lost to the Netherlands (75:76). The last match was completed ahead of schedule for technical reasons.
Ukraine will play in Istanbul in group C of the pre-qualification tournament for the 2024 Olympics, where the teams of Turkey, Iceland and Bulgaria will become rivals in the group round. Only the winners of the pre-qualification tournaments will receive a spot in the Olympic Qualification Tournament.
Also, the Ukrainian national team got into group A of the qualification for EuroBasket 2025, where it will compete with Slovenia, Israel and Portugal. The top three teams from each group will advance to the final round of the European Championship.
