The Spaniard has been with the national team since November 2021
Ukrainian Football Association announced the departure of the head coach Ukrainian women’s team Luis Cortez. The Spaniard will leave the team on August 31, when his contract expires.
The UAF Women’s Football Committee recommended that the UAF Executive Committee approve the new head coach of the Ukrainian women’s team Vladimir Pyatenko.
Since the summer of 2023, Pyatenko has been the head of Zhilstroy-1. Previously, he coached Donetsk Metallurgist, Obolon-Brovar, Armenian Banants, Belarusian Krumkachi, Dynamo women’s team and was an assistant in Chernomorets.
Cortes has led the Ukrainian national team since November 2021, and before that he worked as the head coach of the Barcelona women’s team. The women’s team, led by the Spaniard, failed to qualify for the 2023 World Cup.
The last match of the Ukrainian national team under Cortes was the sparring on July 8 with the Portuguese national team, in which the blue-yellows lost with a score of 0:2.
In September, the Ukrainian national team starts in Group B3 of the League of Nations. The teams of Poland, Serbia and Greece will become the rivals of Ukraine.
