Honored Coach of the USSR Tatiana Tarasova and six-time Olympic speed skating champion Lydia Skoblikova will receive special awards from the Ministry of Sports of Russia, according to the agency’s website.
The awards, dedicated to the celebration of the centenary of the sports management system, will be presented to Tarasova and Skoblikova on August 11 on the territory of the Ministry of Sports as part of the celebration of the All-Russian Athlete Day. Nikolay Rusak, chairman of the USSR National Sports Committee in 1989-1991, will also receive the award.
Russia’s honored coach Eteri Tutberidze will take part in the state awards ceremony. In addition, athletes, coaches and sports personalities, including Vasily Pervukhin, Anatoly Semenov, Mikhail Titov, Eteri Tutberidze and Alexander Zhulin, will take part in the event.
Prior to this, there will be a solemn cancellation of a postage stamp issued for the 100th anniversary of the formation of the state governing body in the field of physical culture and sports. Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin, seven-time Olympic synchronized swimming champion Svetlana Romashina, four-time Olympic artistic gymnastics champion Alexei Nemov and Olympic freestyle wrestling champion David Musulbes will leave their mark.
