Construction of the Tutberidze Figure Skating Center in Moscow is expected to be completed in September

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said construction of the figure skating center is expected to be completed in September Eteri Tutberidze in Yasenevo — 5 months ahead of schedule.

– There was an ancient unfinished building, on the site of which a unique palace was built two years later – an important object for the whole country. It will prepare new victories for future champions and for our illustrious skaters whom we love, whom the whole country knows.

We have done everything so that the athletes can train as comfortably as possible: a competition ice rink with 500-seat bleachers; training rink; 10 choreographic rooms; acrobatics room; training room covered with artificial ice; two gymnasiums; rehabilitation block with an area of ​​water procedures. Both rinks are multifunctional. If needed, each can be transformed into a 60×26 hockey pitch. Next to the palace, on the site of a vacant lot, a first-class square will be arranged,” Sobyanin told the Moscow Mayor’s website.

Construction of the Ice Palace – Eteri Tutberidze’s Figure Skating Center on Novoyasenevsky Prospekt (Building 26) – began in May 2021 as part of the Moscow City’s Targeted Investment Program. The technological task and the concept of the sports complex were developed jointly with Tutberidze, master of sports of the USSR, coach of the highest category, honored coach of Russia.

Among Tutberidze’s most famous students are Olympic champions Yulia Lipnitskaya, Alina Zagitova, Kamila Valieva and Anna Shcherbakova, as well as Evgenia Medvedeva and Alexander Trusova, who won silver medals. Now Tutberidze coaches Sofia Akatieva, Adelia Petrosyan, Daria Usacheva and Maya Khromykh.
