Athletistic/Figure Skating. Russian athlete Albert Batyrgaziev, who became the 2020 Olympics champion, has revealed his reasons for dropping out of the planned show ring fight with famous figure skater Alina Zagitova, which was supposed to take place in the summer of 2022.

As we remember, Batyrgaziev was first offered as a partner to play with Zagitova, but then his place was taken by two-time Olympic champion Oleg Saitov.

Batyrgaziev explained: “We planned to hold an open training session, where I had to teach Alina some elements of boxing. However, the next morning, I noticed that thanks to certain individuals, who, of course, remain in the shadows, the whole thing had “reorganized” into a real duel. Do you understand how it sounds? If I went there, what headlines and scandals would break out?

Therefore, I refused to participate, because it all turned into a kind of “professional fight”. Our intention was to have a master class, an open training session, and that would have seemed much more reasonable,” RIA Novosti Sport quoted Batyrgaziev as saying.
