“If it’s not the Olympics, I hope we can play the BRICS Games” – Russian national team volleyball player Kochurina

Russian national team volleyball player Elizaveta Kochurina told that she wants to play in the BRICS Games in Kazan if the national team is not allowed to participate in the Paris Olympics.

In June, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) extended the suspension of teams and athletes from Russia and Belarus from international competitions. It has also been decided not to display the national teams of Russia and Belarus in the world rankings for the period of their non-participation in the events, but their ranking points remain frozen in accordance with the decision of the Board of Directors of the FIVB from October 2022.

– What are the chances of playing volleyball at the Paris Olympics?

– There is a chance that we can play, but it’s small, but still there. We don’t lose hope! If not the Olympics, I hope we can play internationally at the BRICS Games. Maybe this tournament will be the same as the Olympics, only in Russia,” Kochurina told .

The Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Russian national volleyball teams are not allowed to qualify for the Olympics.

The BRICS Games will be held in Kazan in June 2024.
