Russian volleyball players beat the team from Belarus in a retro match

The Russian women’s team defeated the Belarusian team in a retro match dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Russian volleyball.

The match took place in Moscow and ended with the score of 3-0 (15:4, 15:7, 15:6) in favor of the Russians.

Each match in the match was played to 15 points, athletes took to the floor in a stylish retro uniform.

A day earlier, Russian volleyball players beat Belarus 3-0 under modern rules.

On July 29, the Moscow Museum kicked off the “From Kamchatka to Kaliningrad” festival, dedicated to the centenary of Russian volleyball. The official date of birth is considered to be July 28, 1923, when a friendly match of volleyball players of the Higher Art and Theater Workshops and the National School of Cinematography was held in Moscow.

In February 2022, the IOC recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to compete due to the situation in Ukraine. Many federations have followed these recommendations.
