There are a large number of volleyball players at national team level in Russia, but they need to train at international level, the head coach of the Russian national team said. Zoran Terzic .

On Thursday, the Russian volleyball team beat Belarus 3-0 in a friendly match played in retro style and under 1980s rules.

– Volleyball turned out very beautiful, I even had a little nostalgia about these rules – a white ball, a game up to 15 points, you score points only on your serve. The players, of course, were not used to these rules, they never played them. But the game turned out to be interesting. Today we showed a good level of volleyball. You can see that there are a lot of players in Russia who can play in the national team, and that’s very good. Our roster is not limited to 6-7 players, there are many more. You can vary the first six as you wish. Let us play!

– So you are satisfied with the closest reserve of the Russian national team?

– Certainly! It was important for us to prepare now not only for the national team, but also for the clubs. Now the national team does not have competitions, so during this training camp it was necessary to prepare the players to continue training under normal conditions and in the club. I think we did a good job. At the end of the training camp, all the players have made progress, – the correspondent of reports Terzich’s words.

In June, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) extended the suspension of teams and athletes from Russia and Belarus from international competitions. It has also been decided not to display the national teams of Russia and Belarus in the world rankings for the period of their non-participation in the events, but their ranking points remain frozen in accordance with the decision of the Board of Directors of the FIVB from October 2022.
