The tandem of the Ukrainian with the Chinese Shuai lost in two sets to the second seeds Hunter and Mertens
Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk And Zhang Shuai from China failed to reach the quarterfinals of the doubles tournament WTA 1000 in Canadian Monreale.
In the second round, Kostyuk and Shuai lost to the second seed, Australian Storm Hunter and Eliza Mertens from Belgium. The meeting lasted 1 hour and 9 minutes.
In the first set, the Ukrainian-Chinese pair imposed a struggle on the favorites, having managed to take three games in a row with the score 1:5. However, Hunter and Mertens still converted a set point on the sixth attempt – 6:4.
There was no fight in the second game. Kostyuk and Shuai lost three of their innings out of four and eventually ended their performances in the tournament.
