Defender Kilman named Wolverhampton captain

26-year-old midfielder with Ukrainian roots replaced Ruben Neves

Defender Max Kilman became the new captain Wolverhampton.

Kilman has been with the Wolves since 2018. Previously, the 26-year-old defender was already the vice-captain of the team. As captain, he replaced Ruben Neves, who moved to Al Hilal in June.

Kilman has Ukrainian roots. Max wanted to become a football player of the Ukrainian national team and in May 2021, on the eve of the European Championship, he received a Ukrainian passport. But the defender could not play for the main team of the country because of his performances for the England futsal team. The head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Serhiy Rebrov, said that he would consider him a candidate for the Ukrainian national team after Max received Ukrainian football citizenship.

Wolverhampton Wanderers kick off the new Premier League season against Manchester United. The match at Old Trafford will take place on 14 August.
